A Vietnam War Memorial
A memorial to the troopers of Delta Company, 2nd Battalion,
7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Divison - Airmobile
On November 17, 1965, the Delta Company Mortar Platoon was marching through the jungles of Vietnam, in the Ia Drang Valley, as part of a battalion sized force of several hundred men. We were caught in an ambush by a larger North Vietnamese force, and were chopped to pieces. Our platoon was almost totally wiped out. Company losses were 30 brave men, who died as a result of that action on that day. The battle loss totaled, 151 dead and 121 wounded.
Garryowen! to our 7th Cav visitors
As I am able to gather information, I intend to add a new page on every 1965 KIA Hero from Delta Company, about the hometown family, so we see these men, as the real people they were. Please keep watch for additions.
"We Gave Our Lives, For All Your Tomorrows"
They shall not grow old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.*
